1943-2024

Ruth Arlene Cowley, 80 years old, and 10 days away from 81 yrs, passed away peacefully April 6th 2024 at her home in Mount Pleasant, Utah, with her son John by her side. After her courageous battle with Ischemia for over two years, she went into hospice for 9 months, living for 8.5 months longer than doctors had expected. Born April 16th 1943 in Chicago, Illinois to Linden Christensen & Ruth Estella Senkowski.

She was the most caring and wonderful Mom imaginable. She had a great love for all of her family & friends & will be deeply missed. Ruth had an amazing positive attitude, even in times of great tragedy and sorrow. She loved babysitting her grandchildren and participating in family & social activities. She loved comedy like Carol Burnett, The Nanny, & Mama's Family. She was a member of The Daughters of Utah Pioneers, worked for the Utah Department of Agriculture, Utah Dept. of Corrections, and had other state jobs. She took college courses later in life, enjoyed rock-hounding, antique & gem collecting, science fiction movies, temple work, jigsaw puzzles, music, stuffed animals, pets, and was a proud member of Toastmasters.

She is survived by her brothers - Glen W. Christensen (Jo Ann) of Las Vegas, Nevada; Linden J. Christensen of Murray, Utah; her sisters - Lynn Howerton (Tom) of Texas; Suzanne Thayne of Colorado; her son, John D. Rieben of Mount Pleasant, Utah; her daughter, Jacqueline Johnson (Mark) of Fairview, Utah; 11 grandchildren; and 14 great grandchildren. Preceded in death by her beloved son & daughter - Richard Rieben & Tina Rieben, she persevered and overcame those tragedies. The world has lost a truly amazing woman. Her beautiful spirit has left its mark on us all, and we are all the better for it. We love her! And we will forever miss her sweet & caring nature.
