Robert Edward Carter, age 69 passed away peacefully on November 8, 2019 surrounded by loved ones after a year long battle with Leukemia. Robert (Bob) was born on Nov. 7, 1950 in Miami, FL to Charles Edward Carter and Opal Reed Carter. He grew up in Miami Springs, FL attended Miami Springs High School and was very active in Drama and Chorus. He went to work for the Railroad (now CSX) and retired after 40 years of service. He also joined the Air Force Reserves in 1970 and served 6 years as a loadmaster stationed out of Charleston AFB in Charleston, SC.
In December of 1983 he married Robin Lynne Pinckard, the love of his life. Bob is survived by his wife Robin, his daughter Cheryl Lynne St.Peter, Middleburg, FL, his son Christopher Michael Carter, Jacksonville, FL, his sister Terry Carter Pawlick, St. Augustine, FL his three adopted children Shawn Carter, Jason Carter and Celine Race, and a whole host of grandchildren, nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
Bob and Robin were founding members of HighPoint Community Church in Orange Park, FL and were active participants in the Walk to Emmaus and Chrysalis weekends for many years. Bob was blessed to serve as the Community Lay Director for Walk to Emmaus for a period of time.
After retiring from CSX, Bob and Robin moved to Hurricane, UT where they spent the last 5 1/2 years golfing, hiking, RV'ing, trail riding and enjoying all that Southern Utah has to offer. Bob went to work at Sand Hollow Golf Course where he enjoyed helping golfers feel at home and promoting the wonderful game of golf. His year long fight with Leukemia took a lot out of him but he never lost hope that he would get healthy and strong again so that he could resume his position as Outside Supervisor and play more golf.
Sadly that was not to be and in late October he found out that the leukemia had returned and there was nothing else that Life is not measured by the number of breaths we take but by the moments that take our breath away
could be done. Bob fought so bravely with the help of the wonderful Doctors, Nurses and support staff at LDS Hospital in Salt Lake City, UT. He would also want to say a special thanks to the wonderful staff at the American Cancer Society's Hope Lodge where Bob and Robin were able to stay for long periods of time while Bob was undergoing treatment and subsequent Bone Marrow Transplant.
Bob was a man full of life who never met a stranger. His quirky outgoing personality made everyone feel immediately comfortable and he had so many stories to tell. He loved people and had a special place in his heart for youth, especially the ones that were challenging. His years spent as a youth counselor in church were some of his fondest memories. I am sure his legacy will live on in the hearts of all who knew him. Bob loved God, and loved his family, he had a strong faith and wanted us all to know we will all see each other again one day!

I fondly remember the smile on Bobs face when I came into town to sell Christmas Trees 🎄
It is my joy to have called him my friend.
Friends Always
The Christmas Tree Dude
I have such fond memories of Bob while we were both in Jacksonville. He and Robin became precious friends to me during that time. He was always smiling, he always had kind words to say, and he was just a lot of fun to be around. I regret that I didn't make it to Utah for a visit, but I cherish the time I did get to spend with him on this earth. I look forward to spending time with him in our eternal home.
That is a Beautiful testimony to his life! Always smiling and cracking jokes! Bob was truly a fun person to be Around! The Carter family has been and will continue to be in my prayers....he will be missed by many but so thankful for his faith!
Love you Uncle Bob! Thank you for sharing your love, compassion and humor with me and my little family. I miss you.
Bob quickly became one of my favorite people when I met him. He was funny, charming, and an all around great guy. I grew to love him and Robin too! Even though I didn’t know them for a long period of time they seemed like old friends. One thing I wish would have happened is I wish I would have heard him sing. 🎶 All my love to you Robin. Please stay in touch.
The news of Bob's passing deeply saddens me. I had the great pleasure of working with Bob as a volunteer at the Orange Park (FL) Medical Center. He was an enthusiastic, energetic and most personable man, always fun to be with. May God Bless Bob and all who loved him.
We became instant friends at Hope Lodge with Bob and Robin in a time when I needed friends. The friendship we shared, the dinners, conversations, the support and love will be a part of our lives forever. We are grateful to a loving Heavenly Father who put Bob and Robin in our lives. Hugs and loves to you all! Love The Holgate’s
What a beautiful life story you wrote, Robin. I have such wonderful memories of Bob during our Emmaus years. He was a good friend to us, and even more importantly, he was an encourager and mentor to our sons. I know that he positively affected many people, and I have no doubt that he is receiving and enjoying his heavenly reward for that. You and your children are constantly in our thoughts and prayers. We are so deeply sorry for your loss. May the God of all peace and comfort be present with you now and in the days to come.
Bob and Ben were just two good ole' Southern boys-one from Florida and one from Georgia who just happened to retire to the same neighborhood in Southern Utah. Ben wishes he could've spent more time getting to know Bob. He really did enjoy the conversations they had together over the last year. I was so fortunate to get to know Bob and you through our neighborhood ACC. Bob was passionate about the community coming together and he loved planning those neighborhood functions. I don't think I will ever pass by another bounce house without thinking of Bob Carter. I am so glad Ben and I got to meet your beautiful children and see Bob the day before he passed. Our hearts go out to your family and we hope your memories bring you comfort.
I love you babe, and I will miss you every minute of every day until we are together again in Heaven!
