Max Dwayne Reading

Max Dwayne Reading, passed away on May 22, 2020 in his home at the age of 90. He was born June 7, 1929 in Ririe, Idaho to Seth Alfonzo Reading and Nellie Rea Nebel. He married the love of his life Mary Kathleen Reading on June 25, 1976.

Max loved the great outdoors, he was an amazing fly fisherman and he shared his passion with his many nieces and nephews. The entire family enjoyed the breakfasts that Max and HaHa would make on our many family camping trips. He also enjoyed golf and spent many winters in Arizona. Some of his favorite memories came from spending time with his son, Kent in Arizona and his brother, Davey and his family floating the Snake River. He was a farm boy from Idaho, a cabinet maker, and self employed in landscaping until he retired.

He is survived by his wife Kathy, son Kent Braun from a previous marriage, grandkids Clifton and David Braun, honorary grandkids Haylie and Bryson, and Nicole Wardle, the daughter he never had. Sisters-in-law Kaye Dixon, Jane Reading, Cheri McKean, brother-in-law Kirk David and many nieces and nephews.

He is preceded in death by his parents Alfonzo and Nellie, his father-in-law and mother- in-law Pete and Georgia, brother Davey, sister Darlene, sisters-in-law Bev David, Karen Timothy, brothers in-law Ned Timothy, Daune Dixon and special nephew Justin Wardle.

There aren’t words to express the appreciation we have for the staff at Atlas Hospice and Home Care for the loving, compassionate care he received during his final days.

Funeral services will be held on Thursday May 28, 2020 at 1:00 pm (please arrive by 12:45). Graveside services only. Mountain View Memorial, 3115 E. 7800 S., Cottonwood Heights. In lieu of flowers please donate to the Humane Society or any organization in your area that is in need.
