On June 19, 1971, he married Laurel Oliver in Elko, NV; together they had one son Jeff Wilde. Steven married Carrielee Colledge on February 13, 1978 in Magna, UT; together they had 1 daughter Shona Higley and with this union, Steven adopted 2 additional daughters Cherrie Hamblin and Carrie Rodman.

Steven retired from the Granite School District in 2015 where he worked as a Head Custodian for Douglas T. Orchard Elementary School and was a rover custodian for most of the schools in this district for a total of 36 years. He built friendships that lasted his lifetime and he impacted the lives of the administrators, teachers and other staff that he worked with.

Steven is survived by his children Jeff Wilde, Cherrie (Kyle) Hamblin, Carrie (Chad) Rodman and Shona (Dennis) Higley. Subsequently came 10 grandkids, 4 great-grand kids and numerous nieces and nephews. Also surviving Steven are his brother Ronald Smith, sisters Sherry Huisman and Linda Clark. All of these people Steven loved very much and touched deeply.

Steven was preceded in death by his father Lew Jay Wilde, mother Joyce Lorraine Hammond and his sister Lewann (Annie) Colledge.

Steven was full of life and cursed like a sailor but brought a smile to everyone’s face. He was an avid collector of porcelain dolls and when he wasn’t shopping for or rearranging the dolls on his shelves, he would be rolling pink sponge curlers in Cherrie, Carrie and Shona’s hair and if that didn’t work, he would offer a “dad style” haircut free of charge. Steve also collected trinkets and knick knacks of all shapes and sizes. He loved his family and was proud of each and every one of them. Pictures meant the world to him and he displayed a myriad of these amongst his walls for everyone to see. He enjoyed shopping, especially at Deseret Industries, cleaning his home and spending time with everyone.

Stevens family would like to thank the Staff, Med Techs and CNAs of Legacy Village Memory Care and Aspire Home Hospice Nurses Rose, Jonathan and especially Kim for their kindness, love, extreme empathy and care before and during his time of passing.

I worked with Steve at Orchard and at other locations around the district. He always had a "Hello Darlin'" and a hug. A kind and good man!
