Norman L. Harris, beloved son, brother, father, grandfather, uncle and friend left this earth May 30th, 2019 at the age of 80. He passed away peacefully, surrounded by that which was most precious in his life, his family. A viewing will be held on June 4th from 6:00 – 8:00 PM at the Springer Turner Funeral Home, 260 N. 400 W., Richfield, Utah. The viewing will continue June 5th from 10:00 to 11:30 AM, followed by the funeral service at 12:00PM, at the Richfield East Stake Center, 800 N. 500 E. Richfield, Utah. Internment will be at the Monroe City Cementary.

Norman was born in Orem, Utah in February 1939. He grew up in American Fork, Utah and graduated from American Fork High School, class of 1957. He married Janell Allred in December, 1958. They later divorced. He then married Marlene Deaton in Richfield, Utah in 1992. He was an active member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, where he held various positions. Norman also served our nation as a member of the Utah National Guard for 7 years.

He loved people and he loved to work. No one was a stranger to Norm. He loved meeting people and made friends everywhere he went. He left a lasting impression on anyone he came in contact with through his kindness, service, and sense of humor. In his youth, he worked several jobs but finally chose a career with the USDA as a federal meat inspector until his retirement. He also worked as a guard at SUFCO mine in Salina, Utah on weekends. Norman’s work ethic would not allow him to rest. After retiring from the federal government, he began his career as a business man. He owned and Welcome to dinner. Everything is legal as long as you keep one foot on the floor." -Norman Harris managed Norm’s Dollar Discount stores in Nephi and Mt. Pleasant, and Delta, Utah.

Norman loved gardening and yardwork. His passion manifested itself with a beautiful yard and bountiful crop. He loved sharing with others. He only kept what he needed for himself and his family. He was a friend to every stranger, always helping anyone he found in need, making sure to take the time to teach and mentor them along the way.

He is survived by his wife, Marlene, his children from his previous marriage; Don (Dixie), Mark (deceased)(Ann Roberson) , Layne (Shanna), Bryan (Valene), Melanie (Chris) Matthews, Shaun (Wendy). Step children; Libby (Allen) Mason, Kerby Deaton, Gayle (Kelly) Crofts, David (Marla) Deaton, Teresa (Gary) Mason, and Kenneth Deaton. Also, brothers Robert and Michael Harris, sisters Beth Pessetto, Evelyn Miner, along with 48 grandchildren and 74 great-grandchildren. He is preceded in death by his mother, Zilpha, Father Elroy and his wife, Dorothy, brother, Elroy, Sisters Cleo and Kathryn, and son, Mark.
