Glenna was born in Thistle, Utah, May 25, 1928 to Earnest Fred Simmons and Delphia Elizabeth Wilson. She graduated from Provo High School. With her high school sweetheart and future husband, James LaMar Christensen, they were part of the very close and enduring “Class of ‘46”. Jim and Glenna were married December 31, 1947. They were sealed in the Salt Lake LDS Temple.

Glenna’s father, Fred Simmons was a railroad manager in the little town of Thistle and then in Provo. The U.S. Navy took them to Southern California where they raised their five children. Jim was a prominent public servant and Mayor of Upland, California. They returned to Utah shortly before Jim passed away in 1988. Glenna’s life was further blessed when she married Harold Dean Alsop on July 20, 1995. The next seventeen years were filled with love and music, service and travels that brought her great joy.

In her final declining years, Glenna was cared for and watched over by her loving children and grandchildren. Especially Stephen and Victoria Christensen, and their daughter Stacie, in Alpine, Utah, where Glenna has lived for the past three years.

Glenna was a beautiful and devoted wife, mother and grandmother – a woman of great faith, tenderness and instinctive wisdom. She was a peacemaker who cherished and nurtured family unity as one of heaven’s greatest gifts. Glenna and her husband, Jim, could always be heard to say, “Our greatest investment is in the lives of our children.” At their large family gatherings, her husband Jim would often say, “Look Glenna, to think we started all of this!”

Thank you Mom and Dad for our Forever Family. We rejoice in the sure knowledge of the Resurrection and look forward to a glorious reunion.

Glenna is survived by her four children: Stephen L. (Victoria) Christensen, Linda Robinson, F. LaVar (Susan) Christensen, Diane Lefrandt and daughter-in-law Sherry Walsh, 26 grandchildren and 62 great-grandchildren.

Preceded in death by her husbands James LaMar Christensen and Harold Dean Alsop, son James Michael Christensen and son-in law Harold Lefrandt. Also, her parents and sisters Faye Dallin and Sherry Arnsdorf, and brother John Simmons.

Private family services will be held and interment will be at the Christensen Family plot at the Provo City Cemetery.
