Douglas "Doug" Prawitt

Our dear friend and brother Douglas Lloyd Prawitt departed from this world on June 19, 2020, due to cardiovascular disease.

Doug was born in Salt Lake City and grew up in the winding streets around the state capitol. As a kid he loved to feed the ducks in the park and run around with his big brother Alan; as they grew older, they worked on cars together. After graduating from West High School, Douglas became interested in plastic fabrication, and he and his younger brother Eric worked on plastic projects such as aquarium tanks. Doug transformed that interest into a career in the plastic fabrication industry.

Those who knew Doug describe him as a “sweet guy,” “friendly,” and “easy to get along with.” He was a true gentleman who had the best intentions for whatever he set out to do. His interests included playing the guitar, cooking and writing. His smile and laugh felt good because his sense of humor came from a pure place that made others feel special. Doug was a practicing Christian. This is one of the affirmations he wrote down for himself: “Be still for the presence of the Lord -- I’m still amazed -- I just want to thank you Lord --”

Doug is survived by his father, Eckhardt Prawitt, his brothers Alan and Eric Prawitt and their partners John and Tracey. He is also survived by half-siblings Arthur, Randolph, and Lori Prawitt, his aunts and uncles Russell and Jackie Bushnell, Bill and Beth Harmon, and Ross and Helen Bushnell. Doug was preceded in death by his mother, Darlene Bushnell Prawitt.
