Douglas Clyde Balfour
1958 -2020
Douglas Clyde Balfour passed away Friday, May 8, 2020. He was born May 12, 1958 in Salt Lake City, Utah to Donald and Phyllis Balfour.
Doug married Mary Anne in July of 1985 where they have spent the last 34 plus years together completing life adventures together, year after year one challenge at a time.
Doug retired from the Granite School District after providing 38 1/2 years of dedication to Jefferson Junior High and Thomas Jefferson Junior High. Doug also worked with his brother Darin at Balfour Plumbing for 20 years and although the work was hard, he loved working with his brother and the sense of accomplishment it gave him. Doug was known for being a perfectionist, always striving for doing any job exactly right and it was evident in everything he did on a daily basis.
When Doug was not working he enjoyed hunting, fishing and camping with his family. Family was important to Doug, even though he often struggled letting those close to him know how much they meant to him.
He is survived by his wife Mary Anne, his daughter Rhiannon (Andy) Morrison, his sons Cameron (Shanin) and Preston, grandchildren: Dakota (Alex), Kayden, Gracelyn, Kanin, LaRue, Great Grandson Camden. Doug is also survived by his mother Phyllis, brothers Don (Judy), Darin (Bonnie) and many nieces and nephews. Doug was preceded in death by his father Don and brother Dennis.
Doug’s family will say their final goodbyes in a private gathering. We will then celebrate his life with his fathers (Don) celebration of life in June

Doug said goodby to his father, Donald Balfour the man who taught him how to complete a job with perfection.
My deepest sympathies go out to the Balfour family. I didn't know your dad, but I've known Preston for a number of years and he is a great young man and it's been a pleasure to know him.
Preston, I'm very sorry for the loss of both your father and grandfather. Hang in there bud.
My condolences to Doug's family I didn't know Doug as well as his brother Darin and his wife Bonnie we went to grade school and high school together, so I knew his mother Phyllis too.
My best to all of the family
Doug was my co-worker, my best friend for 33 years. I met him opening Jefferson Jr. High. Doug was an amazing man. He didn't want many to know how soft his heart was. I was lucky enough to see his interactions with Jr. High students at their worst, his patience with them was amazing. He was highly respected by Granite School Maintenance Department as a skillful, honest, kind, friendly co-worker. Doug loved his family so much. He wasn't a man of many words, I was one of the few he shared his pride of them with. He was so proud of his boys and their successes. He loved his Kanin and Rue Rue so much, he loved arguing with a 5 year old about "pizzer". I'm going to miss him. Much love to Maryanne, Preston, Cameron & Shanin. My heart breaks for you all. He's finally feeling better.
Doug was my first boss when i started working for the granite school district at Kearns Jr...We worked together for 5 years. We always got along and had some laughs.I had talked to him about 5 or 6 years ago before he retired and it was good to see him again. May he rest in peace.
I had the great privilege of working with Doug at Kearns Jr. High and at Jefferson. To know Doug was to love him. He was a great human being and will be missed by all of us that knew him. My condolences to his wife, kids, grand kids and great grand kids.
