Dorothy "Dot" Lois DeRosa

Dorothy DeRosa, 98 year old resident of Waseca, died peacefully on Tuesday morning, January 23, 2018, at Homestead Hospice House in Owatonna.

Dorothy Lois Price was born on February 2, 1919 in Industry, Illinois, the daughter of Curtis and Lottie (Anstine) Price. She attended Industry Schools and was a graduate of Western Illinois University in Macomb, Illinois. Following her education she was employed by Central Illinois Public Service Company in Macomb until her marriage to John DeRosa on June 27, 1942.

She lived all over the United States, Puerto Rico and Hawaii for 22 years while her husband was in the United States Army. She then lived in Park Ridge, Illinois, from 1962 until 1992 when she moved to Owatonna and later to Latham Place in Waseca.

She is survived by a daughter, Deborah Richard of Waseca, a son, John (Rebecca) of West Dundee, Illinois; grandchildren: Lisa (Brian) Peiser, Kathleen Premo, Jennifer (Aaron) Lambrecht, Rebecca (Steven) Friendshuh, Joshua (Lisa) DeRosa and Diana DeRosa; great grandchildren: Lauren, Joseph and Sydney Friendshuh, Nathaniel and Sada Premo, Sophie, Alexander, Vivienne and Ava Peiser, and Braedon and Mia Lambrecht; many nieces, nephews, and other relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by her husband; a daughter, Judith Strunc; sons-in-law: Richard Strunc and Ronald Richard; three brothers and two sisters.

A Gathering of Family and Friends will be from 2 – 5 pm on Sunday, February 11, 2018 at Starkson & Steffel Funeral & Cremation Service ~ McRaith Chapel of Waseca. Interment will take place the following day in Ft. Snelling National Cemetery. Memorials are preferred to Homestead Hospice House, St. Jude Children’s Hospital, and American Red Cross.
