On June 8, 2020, after a courageous battle with cancer, Loraine passed away peacefully in her home surrounded by her loving family. Loraine was a very kind and caring daughter, mother, sister, and friend. She was taken from our lives much too soon and she will be missed immensely by all who knew her.

Loraine had many hobbies including traveling, baking, playing cards, going to the playhouse, talking on the phone with her favorite sister, shopping, and lunch with the girls. But most of all, she loved spending time with her family!

Loraine was preceded in death by her parents Boyd and Dorothy Searle and her brother Carl Searle. She left behind her brother Dave (Hiro): her sister Tami; her daughter Nickole (Brad); her two sons Dan (Heather) and Dusty; her three grandchildren Jessica (Gary), Jake, and Ruby; her five great grandchildren Austyn, Rylei, Carson, Caleb, and Ashlynn; and her When you walk through a storm, Hold your head up high, And don't be afraid of the dark... many wonderful friends that she loved so dearly.

Per Loraine's wishes she will be cremated and she wanted to have an informal celebration of life with a butterfly release at her parents gravesite. You are welcome to join this informal gathering with the family at Valley View Memorial Park (4335 W 4100 S, West Valley City, UT 84120) from 10-11am on Saturday, June 13.

In lieu of flowers, please consider donating to the charity of your choice. Supporting your favorite charity would bring Loraine much joy!

It was great to get to know Loraine. She was a friend and so very sensible. She had the ability to see beyond the obvious to help her friends and family.

Nicky Dan and Dusty. I was so sorry to hear about your Mom’s passing. It’s like a major part of my childhood died with her. We all had so many good memories at your home. We all had a great childhood and part of it was your mom. God bless you and comfort you at this sad time.

Just a note on my dear friend; My parents were best friends with Boyd & Dorothy. We were like family (not just like - we were family) growing up. Loraine was my age. During our teen years and early 20's - well we raised hell together. My father Grant died before both my sister and I were married, Boyd, Loraine's father gave us both away at our weddings. I will miss my dear friend. This prompts me to stay close to Tami & Dave, her remaining siblings. All my love to the Searle family.

Dear Laraine, we didn’t get the cardboard cutout made in time. 😔

I have loved going to lunch with you pretty much every Wednesday, except during summer break for approximately 19 years. I will miss you so much. I’ve always considered you a dear friend, as well as a coworker. I’m so glad you are not in pain anymore. Rest In Peace.

Love, Maylene

Dear Loraine,

There are so many things I wanted to say thank you and I'm sorry. I still remember the day I first met you. I did not speak English so well at that time so I was so nervous to see a new family, but you welcomed me with your beautiful smile and made me laugh with your humor.

Another day, you let me cry over the phone when I had a difficult time and I did not have anybody near me.

I'm sorry I never had a chance to say thank you in person. I'm glad I had you in my life. Thank you, love you, and miss you.

I am so deeply saddened to hear of Loraine's passing. When I was a kid my mom, Carol (Loraine's Cousin, and Loraine spent a lot of time together and I remember it all so well. I enjoyed talking with Loraine at the birthday lunches and whenever our paths would cross. Always a smile on her face!

I've known Loraine for as long as she's worked for GSD. I will miss seeing her at our luncheons, in the summers and around town. Her laugh, funny sense of humor, and calmness will resonate the most with me! She contributed nothing but good energy, happiness, kind words, positive thoughts, great recipes & food to all she knew, held, and loved! God rest her soul. My Condolences to the family and close friends and ALL others who have lost this special person.
