Dean Arden Flynn, 94, passed away on July 29, 2020 in his Taylorsville home with close friends and loved ones by his side.

Dean was born February 6, 1926, in Salt Lake City, Utah, to Joseph P. Flynn and Mary Viola Williams. He was the third of 10 children. Dad served in the U.S. Navy from 1943 to 1947, he served 4 years in WW II proudly.

Dean A. Flynn married Sylvia Shifler on March 5, 1975 till her death in 2013. He was previously married and later divorced to Wilma Ellen Home, they 6 children together; Larry A. Flynn (deceased), Kathleen (Morgan), Patricia Ann (Mike) Cummins, Michael Flynn (deceased), Denene (Ben) Whetman, David Flynn (deceased), and step daughter Tammie (Ali) Pourfallah; 15 grand-children and many great-grandchildren. Dean is survived by his siblings Carolyn Wyman, Maral Muir, Janet Thompson, and Kay Flynn.

Dad followed his father’s trade in the concrete business as a contractor for all of his life, as well as building several homes he provided for his family. Dad’s hobby, passion and fun was golfing and looked forward to golfing with his brothers.

We wish to thank the V.A. hospital for their health care programs and a special thank you to his doctor S. Carney MD whom helped dad in having such a long life. We would also like to thank Ashby Home Health Care and Hospice and their staff especially nurses Bridget and Carman for their excellent continual care and kindness shown to dad. We ass a special thank you to Carrie the Chaplain for her extra devotion and kindness.

A graveside memorial service will be held at 2 pm on Saturday, August 29, 2020 at the Memorial Mountain View Mortuary and Cemetery at 3115 East 7800 South, Cottonwood Heights, Utah following the services dad will be laid to rest. Please be respectful during the pandemic if you choose to attend the service to follow social distancing, masks are preferred but not required outside.
