Her family moved to Utah when she was a child and she was raised in Davis County.

Cherri loved decorating for each and every holiday, especially Christmas. She always had a listening ear for a friend or family member in need. She was always available for service during a crisis and would serve unconditionally. She was quick to forgive and understood (through experience) the complex problems of this life. She would say, “Some things take time…”

Cherri was employed by Weber State University as administrative support for the Campus Police Department. She served 30 years before taking early retirement in August of 2017 at the age of 60. Cherri enjoyed 18 months of retirement before suffering a severe stroke. She had suffered from complications of that stroke for the last 15 months and ultimately passed from congestive heart failure.

During the last 15 months, Cherri relied on her faith in the Lord, Jesus Christ, to carry her each day. She had seen many trials throughout her life and ultimately, showed us all what she was made of. Cherri pushed through multiple hospitals and rehabilitation facilities in order to get to the point she was. She worked tirelessly for the therapists and staff and was always so grateful for the kindness, encouragement and services that were rendered on her behalf. She will be missed by the Staff, Nurses and C.N.A.’s at The Terrace at Mount Ogden. She was always kind and thankful for them and they knew that she truly meant it when she said Thank You. As her family, we are grateful for the care they gave her especially under the most recent restrictions of the COVID-19 Pandemic. While she will be sorely missed, we are thankful that she is no longer suffering.

Cherri is survived by her two sons, Andrew Whyms (Crystal Griffiths), Justin Hill, Tanisha Joy Whyms, her granddaughter and two great grandchildren, Matilda and Lyrique. She is also survived by her brother, Richard A. (Joann) Hill, 4 nieces, 2 nephews, 16 great nieces and nephews and 14 great-great nieces and nephews, most of whom she knew by name and had a personal relationship with. She will be greatly missed by all of them.

Cherri was preceded in death by her Mother and Father, and within the last few weeks by her Sister, Arlene Joy Jones. We know their reunion was a joyous one as they were all there to welcome her to her Heavenly home.

A viewing and graveside service will be held Tuesday, May 19, 2020 at the Syracuse, Utah City Cemetery from 12pm – 1pm. Family is invited to attend at 11:30am. Please feel free to write down any positive memories you have of Cherri and bring them with you to comfort the family.

Thank you to Serenicare Funeral Home for their kindness, professionalism and attentiveness in preparing our loved one and providing everything needed in such a thoughtful manner.
