Brooke Showalter Carter was born in Provo, Utah on November 1, 1989. After her courageous threeyear battle with breast cancer, Brooke passed peacefully on June 21, 2020 in her Mesa, Arizona home surrounded by her family.  Brooke's life was a remarkable journey. Her family's moves provided the opportunity to touch people's lives in many places. Her qualities of quick humor, a loving heart, and joyful living were magnetic. Many of the friends she made along her journey remained close to her. In short, if you knew her, you loved her. She was the most amazing sister to her brothers. She was a devoted, fun, and kind daughter. She was a precious, treasured wife to her husband. Her children, Nash and Faye, were her whole world. Being their mother was her sacred Joy. She is now reunited with her sister Lauren who went before her, where they are surely rejoicing. Brooke is survived by her husband Christian, children Nash and Faye, her brothers McKay and Ty, and parents Aaron and Audrey. Her passing on the summer solstice, the brightest day of the year, is a reminder of the light she is in all our lives.

Christian, the obituary for your wife was truly touching and a marvelous tribute to a beautiful daughter of our Father in Heaven. You and your children are not alone in this challenging mortal experience. He knows you all, He loves you all and He is walking with you through this. Turn to Him as you will need Him often, as you already have so many times.

Sincerely, (great uncle I guess).........Dave and Barbara Hansen

ps I am one of Yvonne's brothers.

Nash was one of my son Pierre’s friends at preschool. I invited him twice, but both time

Brooke hadn’t been able to bring him. Another mom told me : “Do you know she has a cancer?” I didn’t. But I immediately felt the desire to help. The first time I offered to babysit Nash and Faye, she gladly accepted. When I came, she said with tears in her eyes “I’ve been praying for someone to help, you’re an angel. Heavenly Father sent you.”

A friendship that went beyond service started. I missed her when she moved in Arizona, but I was grateful that she could be closer to her family.

I’ve been impressed by her Faith in Jesus Christ. Her peace in knowing that one day, as Jesus, she will be resurrected. I remembered how she wanted her kids to know that.

I’ll have great joy when I’ll see her again, with her bright smile and shiny eyes.

I met Brooke up at Hunstman Cancer Institute when we were both in a survivors group. We shared a common bond with a drug that we were both taking and hated so much (ibrance). We would laugh at the ridiculous side effects and the brain fog and fatigue we felt. She had the most beautiful smile. I’m so sorry she had to leave this life so soon. I know she loved her husband and her kids very much. When she would talk about them her eyes would light up. I know she will be watching over them and caring for them while she waits to be reunited. Sending my love and comfort.
